BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania, a leading development organization, has been operational in Tanzania since 2006. The organization focuses on Agriculture, Youth and Women Empowerment, Food Security, and Livelihood. In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, BRAC International (BI) has initiated a project aimed at creating a positive and measurable impact for 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and 9.5 million people across seven countries in East and West Africa, including Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Programme Highlights

The urgency to support AGYW living in poverty has been further amplified by the global pandemic. Through this partnership, scalable economic development approaches are delivered in communities to foster the agency and voice of AGYW, allowing them to fulfill their aspirations, achieve sustainable livelihoods, and engage in advocacy issues.

Job Opportunity: Program Assistant

BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania is seeking competent, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals to fill the following positions:

Positions:

  • Program Assistant – Social Empowerment
  • Program Assistant – Livelihoods

Job Locations: Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pwani, Mbeya, Iringa, Songwe, Mwanza, Dodoma, Singida, and Tabora

Responsibilities:

  • Lead AIM program inception activities including community mobilization, participant selection, club selection and setup, mentor selection and onboarding, and establishing social empowerment linkages.
  • Implement and supervise social and economic empowerment activities as per program design, activity plan, and budget.
  • Organize and support Youth Development Committees in target communities.
  • Achieve club-level program targets and report operational/management issues.
  • Coordinate with Technical Sector Specialists (TSS) for technical guidance and support.
  • Guide and supervise mentor activities, providing regular coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Attend monthly coordination meetings, update on club activities, and flag issues needing attention.
  • Support branch-level procurement, logistics, and other tasks as required.
  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by timely submitting cash requisitions.
  • Facilitate social empowerment training for participants and connect them with broader linkage services.
  • Minimize participant attrition and prepare attendance and drop-out reports.
  • Prepare and submit MIS, financial, and other reports on time.
  • Ensure team member safety from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team safety from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
  • Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding.
  • Promote and endorse safeguarding policy issues among team members.
  • Follow safeguarding reporting procedures and encourage others to do the same.

Required Skills/Capacity:

  • At least 1 year of experience in the international/national development sector, working with marginalized communities.
  • Good communication, facilitation, and representation skills.
  • Proficient in using mobile devices and computers, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse individuals.
  • Integrity, credibility, and dedication to BRAC’s mission.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of post-secondary diploma in relevant subjects.
